The Colo Outdoor Education Centre will be hosting a three day Re-certification for Wilderness Leaders Advanced First Aid / Wilderness First Responder on 19, 20 and 21 May.
The course is held at the Colo Outdoor Education Centre of St Joseph’s College. To download a map and directions go to www.joeys.org Click on Colo Outdoor, then Maps.
The venue fee, including on site accommodation, is $60. This is self-catering, but includes use of shared cooking facilities in a well-equipped kitchen. Accommodation is simple dormitory style bunk beds in cabins for 10. If you would like more privacy you may prefer to pitch your tent and use the showers and toilets in the cabins, and cooking facilities in the dining hall.
Off-site accommodation is available at Ararat Lodge about 5 km away, www.araratlodge.com or at the Upper Colo Reserve Campground also about 5 km, www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/environment/1234/20691.html
The best supermarkets are located at Windsor or Richmond, both about 45 km away, so it is best to buy anything you need on your way to the centre.
Usually there isn’t a great deal of spare time on a re-cert course, but if you wish to there are a few restaurants about 30 minutes drive away near Kurrajong.
